Gilbert Stuart Oil Painting Reproductions |
Gilbert Stuart was an American portrait painter whose likenesses shaped the image of the early presidents. His oil paintings use lively flesh tones and fluid brushwork to convey a sitter's character. Beyond his portraits of George Washington, he painted merchants, families and political figures with an eye for expression and pose.
